Right under our nose but are we going to cut if off despite our face

By: David Disbrow

For to long we have ignored the vast amount of clean energy available for our use in producing electricity to run our homes and businesses. South Florida has vast amounts of bio mass material. I am sure everyone has experienced and seen for themselves all of the plant material being removed from our lawns and landscapes everyday. Just how much of this material do we have in South Florida and what do we do with this bio mass material? Organic Green Solutions has the answer and you will be blown away just has I have been.

How about we make electricity with plant material that comes from our yards? In Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach County we produce in our yards and landscapes billions of pounds of clean bio mass material that can be used to produce clean energy. With this material we can produce electricity to supply hundreds of thousands of homes. In addition we can set up multiple bios mass plants so that the delivery to the plant is easy and reduces the use of fossil fuels to drive the material to the bio mass energy plants. By burning in small bio mass plants a specific type of bio mass material we can then develop a type of ash containing certain qualities and conformity for agricultural farming. Another benefit is by setting up many small bio mass plants we gain efficiency in the transferring of the electricity from the point of production to the user across our electric grid.

One big problem we are facing is how our local government can stand in the way of this idea. Even though our system burns completely clean and carbon neutral I am hoping that they will not set up costs that make this wonderful idea not cost effective. The second big problem is FP&L who will determine how much they will pay each plant for the power generated/

Let us first talk about the potential for government road blocks. What about a permit for the unit? All they have to do is charge fees for the permit to make the project unfeasible. The next road block is environment fees for the regulation of the project; also, the studies they want of what to do with the ash, and so on and so forth. By the time we get the project off the ground another decade or two will have passed. We cannot afford this so we must find a way to easily permit and deploy these bio mass energy plants. We can build one ready to go and start producing energy every two weeks which means by the end of next year we could have twenty of the clean burning bio mass energy plants on line.

What needs to happen is the local and state governments and FP&L help make this reality and not let great idea never come to fruition. FP&L, who currently produces 1% of the energy using renewable fuels, needs to get on board with OGS. They need to pay a fair value for the electricity. Since they have the Monopoly they need to do what is right pay a fair price the production of the energy for the producer to make this project viable. This is a good business for FP&L and their customers because if will fix the cost of energy better than relying on fossil fuels. Think about it, after the bio mass plant is capitalized the producer is then getting paid for the fuel supply by offering inexpensive disposal of organic plant material and paid for the organic fertilizer created out of the ash.

“In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return."

It is biblical the fact that we are returning the plants to dust and putting them back into the soil of the earth.

This is not an end to all means for us to begin to use resources previously unused but it is rather the start towards sustainability for our society. Common sense needs to overrule unfounded concerns when the solutions are natural organic solutions. Utilizing bio mass bio products of our society into the production of clean energy is one of the easiest to implement and start raking in the benefits.

Capital needs for these projects through the private sector will be easy to obtain as long as the government does not stand in the way. These are carbon neutral plants that create no more pollution than if the plant were naturally decomposing in the soil. But by creating a syn gas out of the plants when burning we reduce methane gas that occurs when composting this same material. It is a real possibility that private businesses can put in bio mass gasification plants capable of processing quickly ready available bio mass material. Having said this there is a potential for having 25 operating plants in Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties by 2012.

We live in an area that has huge amounts of bio mass material like Melaleuca, Australian pine, and Brazilian Pepper trees that are evasive to our environment but would make great bio fuel. What about our solid waste from waste treatment facilities? Companies that produce bio waste would be able to run their companies on their own power generated from their own waste. It is time for us to get our heads out of the clouds and get to work for it is only a matter of time before fuel prices will raise again.

Pest Control Companies

I want everyone to know that the pest control companies give me inspiration to bring up all the dangers of using chemicals. Chemical companies conspire to fix one problem at the same time knowing they are creating another problem and another chemical product. If there ever was a conspiracy this is one of the biggest ever. To think less than 75 years ago we lived almost chemical free. One hundred years ago we were completely chemical free and all our food was grown organically. Now is the time for us to get back to basics and get rid of chemicals in our homes, on our children's play grounds in the food we eat and the water we drink.

Pest Control Companies our killing us

We are so afraid of and insect we are willing to kill ourselves in an attempt to rid our environment of a bug that is no threat to us. Every time we expose our self to these chemicals we are poisoning ourselves and our children. Why would we do this? It is the fear of something that we can see vs something we can see, but the most deadly poinson gas you can't see. All creatures great and small are a part of the threads that hold this world together.

Cleaning up the oil in the gulf

For 60 days now we have been trying to get out our product OSR1 out in the gulf to help clean up the oil. I never thought that great ideas would be blocked by red tape everywhere around. When on the news I see the destruction from the oil it makes me wonder what if? What if 35 years ago when I was just 23 years old we had started to develop alternate energy sources. One of the good things that will come out of this environmental disaster in the gulf is that maybe now we will wake up and stop killing our earth.

Out Break of Cancer in the Acreage

I think that these children like all children are being exposed to a variety of chemicals that can cause cancer. One of the places that they come in contact with very dangerous chemicals is when they are playing sports on fields treated with a wide variety of chemicals. Tell me what child doesn't bite their fingernails when they are sitting on the side lines during a game. The ball is in constant contact with the ground and then handled by the children. We need to do some tests on the balls that are being used on the fields to see what chemicals that they are picking up.
Second every parent should know what chemicals the superintendent of that field is using and ask him to supply the MS DA sheet explaining the hazards of those chemicals. I just don't understand why we have to use these chemicals when there has been organic solutions for century's.
